Introduction It is well known that silicate glasses consist of rings interconnected in three dimensions, and each ring is made of corner-sharing SiO4 tetrahedra. While crystalline silicates contain well-defined ring sizes, in corresponding glasses we expect a statistical distribution of rings. Deconvolution of the mixture PXRD into separate PXRDs with sharp-only diffraction peaks and broad-only diffraction peaks will allow for determining the percentage of amorphous content.
